Fortaleza has beautiful beaches and plenty of wind. For two friends who loved taking their families to the coast, wind also made conventional umbrellas and tents difficult to use.

They set out to use the breeze to keep the fabric lifted and create shade, rather than fighting against it.

The alternatives they knew were heavy and often required several people to assemble. Brisamar was designed to be compact, light and easy to carry. With practice and suitable conditions, one person can set it up in about a minute.
