Cleaning and inspection frequency depends on how often you use your Brisamar and the conditions it faces. Heavy use, sea spray and accumulated sand or dirt call for more frequent care.
When setting up and packing away, take a moment to check the fabric and components. Small habits help preserve your canopy.
Cleaning & drying
Clean whenever sand, dust, dirt or sea-salt residue builds up. Wash more thoroughly according to use and accumulated dirt and salt.
Use clean water and mild soap. Wash gently, without excessive rubbing.
For machine washing, use gentle agitation and a delicate spin setting.
Prefer natural drying in the shade. If using a dryer, use cold air only, never hot air.
Do not use bleach, solvents, harsh chemicals, stiff brushes or pressure washers.
Allow it to dry completely. Never store or set up the canopy while it is still damp.
Fabric & seams
Check edges and ends when setting up and packing away. Inspect more closely according to use, particularly after prolonged exposure to wind.
Carefully trim only the tips of frayed threads with small, sharp scissors.
Never pull threads or cut seams or hems.
For tears or open seams, seek a specialist sewing service for assessment and suitable repair.
Inspecting components
Inspect thoroughly from time to time, according to use and exposure. Carry out an additional inspection after storms or exceptionally strong winds.
Check seams, fabric edges and ends for tears, holes and wear.
Check the guyline, bags and fabric sleeves through which the support arms pass.
Look for friction damage and check poles, supports and structures.
Strong wind
In exceptionally strong winds or storms, assess conditions and take down the canopy whenever damage is possible.
Keep the fabric from becoming caught or wrapped around the structure.
Avoid continuous rubbing against rigid surfaces.
Set up again only after checking safe conditions and the state of the fabric and components.
Based on the conservation and maintenance manual supplied by Brisamar.
